Counseling Services
COMTREA Inc. employs skilled, professional therapists that provide quality care. A variety of modalities are offered including individual, group, and family therapy services, as well as art therapy and play therapy. For the convenience of our children and their families, these services are offered at numerous COMTREA offices: Arnold, Festus and High Ridge. Our staff is prepared to assist you in dealing with issues or concerns that are interfering with your life.
Targeted Case Management (TCM)
Targeted case management is a voluntary, supportive service to children and their families who are faced with the challenges that exist when dealing with a mental health issue. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for children and families to be positive and productive individuals in the community. The targeted case manager will meet with the family in the community whether it is at the home, school, hospital, juvenile office, or wherever the family is best served and/or most comfortable. They will also work with the family to identify times to meet that are convenient for them, and will provide them with resources available in the community to address their concerns.
Once services have been identified, the targeted case manager (TCM) will support the family’s efforts to contact the resources and coordinate the implementation of the service. The family and TCM will work together to make sure the services are meeting their needs.
Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program for Children and Youth (CPR Jr.)
The CPR Jr. Program provides intensive services for children and families who are dealing with more severe issues than those who are participating in our Targeted Case Management Programs. CPR Jr. Community Support Specialists will meet with children and their families in their homes, schools, at the hospital, juvenile office or wherever they are best served. In addition, the Community Support Specialist will work around the families’ schedules to meet with them at a time that is convenient, and will assist them in identifying services and resources to reduce the pressures related to the issues that brought them to our agency. The family and community support specialist will work together to provide opportunities for the children and family members to enjoy being a part of the community.
Art Therapy
It is not unusual that some children and youth have a difficult time expressing what they are feeling in words. COMTREA therefore offers art therapy provided by a professionally trained art therapist who works with the children and youth. Individual or group art therapy sessions involve clients using art materials (paints, clay, drawings, etc.) to express their feelings and identify problem areas in a non-threatening way. There is no artistic talent/skill required for treatment, as artistic talent is not the focus of the sessions.
Play Therapy
Therapeutic play is another form of treatment that can be used with children and youth who are having difficulty expressing their feelings in words. COMTREA is pleased to have qualified play therapists on staff who can provide this very valuable service to its children and youth.
